En raison de la controverse entourant la cause de la mort de Gilbert, en Septembre 2014, le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre m\u00e9decin l\u00e9giste Dr a accept\u00e9 de proc\u00e9der \u00e0 une autopsie ind\u00e9pendante des restes de Shannan Gilbert dans l espoir de d\u00e9terminer une cause pr\u00e9cise de la mort. Apr\u00e8s examen des restes de Gilbert, Baden trouv\u00e9 des dommages \u00e0 son, ce qui sugg\u00e8re que la strangulation a pu se produire. Baden a \u00e9galement not\u00e9 que son corps a \u00e9t\u00e9 retrouv\u00e9 face vers le haut, ce qui est commun pour les victimes de noyade.
